Flea treatment specialists

Expert flea control in Tauranga, Waihi Beach, Matamata and surrounds.

Fleas are the most common external parasite for pet owners worldwide. Fleas not only annoy dogs, cats and people but can carry disease and cause other health problems.

Fleas are normally introduced by being transported in on pets, and can quickly spread throughout homes, causing irritation, sleepless nights and very itchy bites. Female fleas will lay eggs on the host animal, (up to 25+ per day) and these will fall to the floor and hatch, resulting in high flea levels quickly developing in your carpet. Depending on the temperature and humidity, egg to adult flea development may take from several weeks to a year. A female flea that has gorged on blood may survive up to 18-24 months without feeding, and during this time may have laid many eggs, which is how high infestations of fleas occur even in unoccupied houses. Fleas carry tapeworm, cause an allergic skin condition in dogs & cats called Flea Allergy Dermatitis and are carriers of infectious agents.

Control of fleas at your residential, commercial, industrial property

We service private homes, rental properties, accommodation providers etc. We have treatments for all areas: kitchens, interiors of homes, ceiling cavities, exteriors of buildings and even garden areas.

When left untreated flea populations can soar quickly, especially during humid summer months, which can lead to situations where dwellings become uninhabitable. Dogs and cats will also suffer considerable stress from flea infestations. 10 fleas in ideal conditions can become 250 000 in just 30 days. Only approximately 5% of fleas are on the pet the remaining fleas in the form of eggs. larvae, pupae and adults are in the environment the pet lives in, your home. For every flea on your pet there may be hundreds waiting to hatch!

Customers often tell us they have tried many bombs and sprays before they call us but without success. Fleas have slippery eggs which fall out of the fur onto sleeping areas, carpets, hard floors anywhere the animal has been. The eggs sink to the base of the carpet, cracks & crevices, soil, lawns etc. This makes it difficult to get products to where they are. DIY products simply do not have enough penetration. Professional help is required. We can deal with them effectively because we know their habits. We use products that will kill both the adult flea and the larvae breaking the breeding cycle. This will also control any new fleas that hatch.
